Cop Docked For Theft

A police officer attached to Criminal Investigation Bureau, Ikeja, Lagos, South West Nigeria, Corporal Ehua Albert, 33 and Razak Ololade, 34, have been arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for stealing NITEL cable.

The police corporal and his co-accused were arraigned on a two-count charge of felony and stealing which are punishable under Sections 560 and 390 (5) of the Criminal Code Cap C 17 Vol.11 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Count two of the charge read: “that you Ehua Albert, Razak Ololade and others now at large, on 3 October, 2010, in Ijora, Lagos Magisterial District, did steal NITEL cable which value is yet unknown and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(5) of the Criminal Code Cap C.17 Volo.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.”

The presiding magistrate, Mr. P.A. Ojo, however, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum after pleading not guilty to the charge.

The case has been adjourned till 27 January, 2011 for trial.
