Two people have been sentenced to four months imprisonment each by the Lagos State  Special Offences Court for running illegal lottery operations in the state.

The culprits, Mr. Koffi Ayensu and Austin Ato were sentenced on a two-count charge  but were, however, given an option to pay a fine of N150,000.

Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Lottery Board, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, said the  action of the men who were arrested in Orile Iganmu and Oshodi areas of Lagos State,  southwest Nigeria, violated Section 43 B of the Lagos State Lottery Laws.

Gbajabiamila who vowed that the board would not relent in its efforts to rid the  state of illegal lottery operators, assured that the board would continue to  intensify enforcement of the necessary laws.
