Okada Thief Nabbed

One of the two bag snatchers that have been terrorising the people of Odogunyan in Ikorodu has been arrested and detained at police divisional headquarters, Sagamu.

The bag snatcher, 23-year-old Onyebuchi Okpanum, confessed to P.M.NEWS that it was  his friend  called I.K that  introduced him to the gang

Okpanum said that it was during the second operation with the gang that he was caught, while his first attempt was when they snatched a bag from a lady.

According to him, while he rode the bike, I.K went after a woman, snatched her bag and  jumped back on the bike. They later drove to a place called area one where they checked inside the bag and found only N2,000 and a cell phone.

“We were dissapointed and decided to go for another one. It was when I.K was trying to snatch another bag from a woman that I was caught while I.K escaped,” he said.

Okpanum, a native of Okah in Enugu State in eastern part of Nigeria, stated that he came to Lagos State about two months ago.

Okpanum, who lives in the churchinside the Army Barracks along Shagamu road, new Odogunyan (174 battalion), begged God to forgive him for what he has done.

He told P.M.NEWS that he has a girlfriend who is pregnant for him and vowed not to steal again  if he bcomes free. He said wh will go back to the village.

The DPO of the Shagamu Police Division, Mr. Obi Ukadike, SP, said the Okpanum will be  charged to court soon, while the police is still on the trail of IK. fleeing accomplice.
