For allegedly stabbing a colleague with broken bottle during a fight, one Adekoya Idris has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Surulere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, South West Nigeria.
He was arrested by the police at Orile Police Station, following a complaint lodged by Lukumon Gbadeyan and was arraigned before a Surulere Magistrate’s Court on a one-count charge of stabbing.
Adekoya Idris was sentenced to Ikoyi Prison after pleading guilty to a charge of felony to wit, stabbing Mr. Lukumon Gbadeyan, by using broken bottle on his back, chest and head respectively and causing him serious injury, an offence punishable under Section 338 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The incident happened at the premises of European Soap Company along Mile 2-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos.
The one-count charge read “that you, Adekoya Idris, on 3 November 2010 at about 12 p.m. at European Soap Company, Coker, along Mile 2-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully wound one Lukumon Gbadeyan by using broken bottle to stab him on his back, chest and his hand respectively and caused him injury.â€
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate subsequently sentenced him to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.
