For allegedly stabbing a colleague with broken bottle during a fight, one AdekoyaÂ Idris has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Surulere Magistrateâ€™sÂ Court, Lagos, South West Nigeria.
He was arrested by the police at Orile Police Station, following a complaint lodgedÂ by Lukumon Gbadeyan and was arraigned before a Surulere Magistrateâ€™s Court on aÂ one-count charge of stabbing.
Adekoya Idris was sentenced to Ikoyi Prison after pleading guilty to a charge ofÂ felony to wit, stabbing Mr. Lukumon Gbadeyan, by using broken bottle on his back,Â chest and head respectively and causing him serious injury, an offence punishableÂ under Section 338 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State ofÂ Nigeria, 2003.
The incident happened at the premises of European Soap Company along Mile 2-OshodiÂ Expressway, Lagos.
The one-count charge read â€œthat you, Adekoya Idris, on 3 November 2010 at about 12Â p.m. at European Soap Company, Coker, along Mile 2-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos, in theÂ Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully wound one Lukumon Gbadeyan by usingÂ broken bottle to stab him on his back, chest and his hand respectively and causedÂ him injury.â€
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate subsequentlyÂ sentenced him to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.
