Nigerian national tennis player, Adediwura Akinbade, has made a clarion call to the Federal Government to help revive the sport in the country.
Adediwura, in an interview with P.M. Sports, stated that in his eight years as a tennis player, the standard of the game has been deteriorating due to lack of proper supervision from the authorities.
“I am 21 years and in my eight years of playing I have not seen much growth in Nigerian tennis especially at the grassroots level.
Akinbade pleaded with private organisations to take up the responsibility of reviving the game by sponsoring more grassroots tournaments in order to encourage children and youths in the sport.
Akingbade also urged the Federal Government to pay more attention to tennis in order to make it a lovable sport among Nigerians.
