Super Eagles Chief Coach, Samson Siasia says the overall turnaround of the teamâ€
Siasia, 43, who was unveiled by his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, in Abuja this afternoon, said his assignment as handler of the senior national team is to join hands with his assistants and raise a formidable squad.
The former Nantes player, who led the Flying Eagles to win silver medals at both the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship, WYC, in Netherlands 2005 and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, believes he has to improve on the record as Eaglesâ€
“My four years contract is an enormous task and the first thing to do is to ensure that we raise a credible squad that can qualify the country for the 2012 Nations Cup in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea and I know the Eagles can achieve this,†he said.
Siasia, who hinted that he would not discard all the current players in the Eagles, is poised to drill the team by arranging top international friendly matches, which will help in the selection of quality players, whose task would be to win matches and bring back the lost glory of Nigerian football.

Meanwhile, Siasia’s two assistants are not named at the official presentation ceremony of the new coach. Siasia has already picked long time ally Simon Kalika as his first assistant.
Former internationals, Emmanuel Amuneke, Ben Iroha and Emeka Ezeugo are all in the running to pick the next two spots, along with U-17 coach Monday Odigie who is reported to be Siasia’s preference.
