4 Docked For Stealing

For allegedly breaking into a residential apartment to steal money and belongings, four men have been arrested by the police at Orile Police Division and arraigned before the court.

The suspects were arrested along Omoyemi Street, Orile, Lagos, South West Nigeria and arraigned before a Surulere Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge to comit felony to wit, stealing, an offence punishable under Section 516 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17 Vol. II, Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003.

Count two read “that you, Chiputa Chijioke, Kehinde Mudashiru, Godwin Omokono and Amodu Buhari, on 5 November, 2010, at about 10 p.m. at Orile area of Lagos of aforesaid magisterial district, did steal the sum of N21,000 and one express music GSM phone valued at N16,000 property of one Chikezie Emeruo.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, A. O. Sholadoye, granted them bail in the sum of N10,000 with two sureties each in the like sum and adjourned the matter till 8 December, 2010.

The defendants were, however, ordered to be remanded in prison as they could not perfect their bail conditions.
