Even as Enyimba’s Chief Coach, Evans Ogenyi, is talking tough ahead of their week 5 Nigeria Premier League, NPL, encounter against Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC of Ibadan, striker Gbolahan Salami and his coach, Fatai Amoo, believe the tie can go either way.
Enyimba, who lost 1-0 to Bukola Babes in Offa, Kwara State last weekend, are targeting the maximum points against 3SC when they clash at the Aba stadium this weekend.
Salami was suspended for two matches following his gesture at his former Coach, Ogunbote of Sunshine Stars during their match at Liberty stadium, Ibadan.
The player, who appears to have learnt his lessons, says 3SC would not be playing as underdogs when their match with The Elephant gets underway in Aba.
We are not intimidated by Enyimba, all we know is that the match will be tough and 3SC will fight for the points in Aba,†the former Sunshine Stars player said.
Salami is among the strikers who Coach Fatai Amoo would feature in his squad against Enyimba in the crunchy tie. Amoo is expecting an electrifying encounter, which would give the fans a swell time.
“3SC’s target for this season is to qualify for one of the CAF competitions. In view of this, the team are in Aba to play against Enyimba, who undoubtedly are equally a good side,†the 3SC coach said.
3SC lost 1-0 to Kano Pillars last Saturday, but Enyimba coach, Ogenyi says his squad would not underrate the Oluyole Warriors.
“3SC are not a predictable side. They have a good coach in Amoo, and we know his antecedents. The team are also blessed with quality players, so we can’t toy with the match.â€
Enyimba defeated Zamfara United 1-0 in their week 3 match but lost with the same margin to Bukola Babes last week. Ogenyi said the league is just a month old and believes the club would get better with every match.
The coach claimed that the new players in Enyimba are trying to blend with the old players, blaming this for their inability to play at their peak.
