As Nigerians prepare to go to poll next year, a call has gone out to the populace to seek the face of God for His candidate rather than man’s.
Pastor Johnson T. Kalejaye, a regional evangelist in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, made the call at this year’s Let Somebody Shout Halleluyah, an annual thanksgiving service organised by Milk and Honey parish, a hamlet of RCGG under Lagos Province 8.
The preacher said Nigerians should pray for God’s choice to lead the country come May 2011 rather than man’s choice or a consensus candidate.
He went further to say “no matter where God’s choice comes from, no matter his limitation or disability, he will perform very well.†He gave a scriptural example of when God chose David to lead the Israelites, adding that Nigerians enjoyed electricity last when the parastatal controlling it was known as Electricity Corporation of Nigeria, ECN.
“The moment the government changed its name from ECN to National Electric Power Authority, NEPA, then to NEP Plc and now Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, it has been one problem or the other. This is because we had refused to allow God to choose our leader for us.â€
Let Somebody Shout Halleluyah is an annual programme of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Milk and Honey Parish, Mende, Maryland. Pastor Wale Adeduro, the pastor in charge of Milk and Honey zone said the theme for this year is ‘Perfecting Praise.’
