Prophet Docked For Stealing Bananas

The police in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria has arraigned a man, Ndubuisi Onwode before the  Apapa Magistate’s Court for allegedly stealing bananas worth N10,000 from Mrs.  Theresa Ikeobi.

The police prosecutor, Sgt Kalu Umeh alleged that Ndubuisi  stole bananas worth  N10,000 from a petty trader Mrs. Theresa Ikeobi at  15, Jimoh Ojora Street,  Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos on  6 November, 2010 at about 10.30 p.m.

A thorough investigation was carried out in Mr. Ndubuisi house where the bananas  were found beside his house.

He also claimed to be a prophet of God when he was asked to state the nature of his   job.

The offence is punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 17, vol. 11  of the laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate Mrs. Shonubi Adenike granted him  bail in the sum of N10,000 and one surety.

The matter has been adjourned till 3 December, 2010 for mention.
