A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart in Lagos State, Tolagbe Animashaun, has affirmed that his membership of the party is intact, saying he has no plan of quitting the party for another party.
Reacting to a news report where it was erroneously stated that he was contesting the Lagos Central Senatorial District seat on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Animashaun allayed the fear being expressed by his teeming admirers, assuring them that he still remains a bona fide member of the PDP and has no intention to do anything in the contrary.
According to him, his desire to vie for a seat at the Senate was borne out of the urge to empower the youths of the district and give them a voice in their quest to secure a promising future.
He said he hopes to achieve that by exploring and exploiting the revenue potential of his constituency by seeking legislation allowing for derivation from revenue generated by federal institutions located within the area he seeks to represent at the Senate.
Born to the famous Asunmo Animasaun family of Martins Street, Olowogbowo, Lagos Island 58 years ago, Tolagbe graduated from Virginia Union University, Richmond, Virginia, USA, after he had his secondary and higher education at Ahmadiya College, Agege and Baptist Academy, Obanikoro, respectively.
He rose through the ranks to become a permanent secretary in the Lagos State’s civil service before retiring into private business few years ago.
