Residents of Adekoya Street and motorists passing through College Road to Iju in Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area of Lagos State, have called on the state government to rehabilitate the road, which, according to them, has been in bad state for almost one year.
They also said that all efforts to draw the attention the local government to the state of the road have been rebuffed as there have been no response from the council’s authority.
The residents said the situation has also forced them to park their vehicles outside the street as driving through it posed danger to their vehicles.
Mrs. Stella Adeola, one of the residents said “this is the problem we are facing here, especially during the rainy season. We cannot drive in, while both commercial vehicles and okada have stopped coming here all because the road is bad.
“We are begging our amiable governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, to come to our rescue and assist us in rehabilitating the road.â€
A commuter driver who identified himself as Mr. Jude, said “the bad state of this road is contributing to the usual traffic build up that always occurs on this route. If the road is good, it would have served as alternative route and this would help in a great deal problem facing motorists around here.â€
