The maiden edition of The Eko Awards holds Sunday, 12 December, 2010 at the External Ballroom, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.
Dignitaries from all walks of life are expected to join the organisers at the high-profile event organised to celebrate Nigerians from diverse origins that have made indelible contributions to the socio-economic growth of Lagos State since its creation in May 1967.
A privte sector initiative inspired by contemporary developments in the history of the state, The Eko Awards’ major objective is to recognise the pioneering efforts of several notable Nigerians whose world view transcended the confines of tribe and gender as well as age and scholarship as reflected in their achievements and contributions towards the development of the Lagos environment.
According to the chairman, Board of Directors, The Eko Awards, Mrs. Helen Efue, “the vision of The Eko Awards is to promote a high sense of responsibility, commitment and service in present and future generations of Nigerians by rewarding excellence. The awards will hold annually in furtherance of these ideals.â€
