Freedom Foundation, a non-profit organisation that caters for the destitute in  Nigeria, will hold its annual fund raising tomorrow at the Dome, This Present House,  in Lekki, Lagos, South-West Nigeria.

The Executive-Director of the foundation, Mrs. Tenidola Awoyemi, disclosed at a  press conference in Lagos yesterday that about 500 guests are expected at the event.

The fund raising, Awoyemi said, will take place during a concert of classical,  contemporary and African music.

The artistes billed to perform at the concert include Soji Israel, Tim Godfrey,  Jeremiah Gyang, Ige Rooftop Mc’s, Funmi Bucknor and Madele.

Awoyemi said that the money is being raised for House of Refuge and Genesis House,  two arms of Freedom Foundation.

She said that while House of Refuse is a Lekki-based residential rehabilitation  centre for drug addicts, Genesis House is a residential rehabilitation centre for  young women in the sex trade. The centre is located in Surulere.

The Programme director of House of Refuge, Dr. Osasuyi Dirisu, disclosed that so  far, 62 drug addicts have been rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society.  About 45 sex workers have also been rescued, Mrs. Helen Nwabuokwu, programme  director, Genesis House, said.

Freedom Foundation was established in 2001 to provide education for orphans and  vulnerable children, rehabilitation services and education for drug users and sex  workers. The foundation also provides skills acquisition and business support  services for unemployed youth.
