ComeÂ tomorrow, all roads will lead to the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, VictoriaÂ Island, Lagos, as the maiden edition of the long awaited Excellence Queen of LagosÂ a.k.a. Okin Oge Cultural Beauty Pageant, takes place.
Anchored on the premise of promotingÂ LagosÂ cultural uniqueness and tourism, theÂ pageant is aimed at further enhancing the image of Lagos as the centre of excellenceÂ and cultural renaissance and to present the qualities of African beauty and richÂ cultural heritage.
Speaking on the pageant, Queen Lott Onu, Managing Director, QueenikkyÂ International, promoters of the pageant, â€œthe event will have cultural dance andÂ rhythm competition, visits to traditional rulers, orphanages and social centres asÂ part of activities lined up for the queens.â€
She stressed that the emerging Okin Oge of Lagos (Excellence Queen of Lagos) will beÂ unique in that it will provide a wide range of opportunities for the contestants,Â especially the overall winner of the prestigious Okin Oge of Lagos Cultural BeautyÂ Pageant.
Lott also disclosed that the team behind Okin Oge of Lagos project is prepared toÂ take beauty pageant inÂ Nigeria, indeed in Africa, to new and exciting level, akin toÂ the Oscar Award in theÂ United States of America.
She also said that theÂ Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of TourismÂ andÂ Intergovernmental Affairs,Â has given its nod to the pageant. Equally too, theÂ event has got the royal blessing of theÂ Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, who will crown
the winner of the pageant as a cultural ambassador that will be the new face ofÂ Lagos, carrying out social and humanitarian acts that will benefit the society. SheÂ would also walk home with a cash reward, trip toÂ GhanaÂ and a brand new car.
