Students and coaches of the Pepsi Football Academy, PFA from different trainingÂ centres across the country are expected to arrive the Pepsi Football College,Â Irile-Imo, near Sagamu, OgunÂ State on Sunday, 12Â December, 2010 for this yearâ€™sÂ Pepsi Festival of Youth.
The football festival will feature students from Nigeriaâ€™s pioneer football academyÂ in the U-13 and U-15 categories participating in different football competitions,Â Â picnic and visit important historic monuments in Lagos and OgunÂ States.
Director of Pepsi Football Academy, Dr. Kasimawo Laloko said the students will beÂ grouped into five-a-side and seven-a-side teams for the three-day competition, whichÂ ends on 16 December.
He said the objective of the competition is to give the coaches in the Pepsi AcademyÂ the opportunity to assess the skills development of young lads through competition.Â â€œYou cannot continue to teach a child without giving him opportunity to test hisÂ skills through examination. He will be frustrated if you donâ€™t do that,â€ LalokoÂ said.
Commenting on the Pepsi Festival of youth, Mr. Iain Nelson, Consultant to PepsiÂ Football Academy said, Pepsi, through the Academy will continue to discover andÂ nurture Nigerian youngsters.
