Residents of Isolo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have appealed to the state government to charge the council authority to swing into action and repair some roads and drains in the area.
They accused the council of non performance, especially in the area of roads and drains construction and rehabilitation and provision of basic social amenities, among others.
Speaking with Lagos Bulletin, Bayo Okunola, a youth leader on Mukandasi/Adeniran streets, Ago, Okota, said “I have been living in this community for over 20 years and cannot remember when the local government came to fix our roads.
“Even when the present leadership assumed office, we have been there for more than 10 times and they keep telling us that they are coming and we are still awaiting for them.
“For now, we cannot drive in while taxi and motorcycle operators have refused coming here just because we have bad roads.
“We are appealing to Governor Babatunde Fashola to come to our rescue and make us benefit from the dividends of democracy.â€
Another resident, Elder Daniel Adejoke, who also spoke on the development during, the last week’s commissioning of some projects initiated and executed by Hon. Jayeola Ajatta, who represents the area in the House of Representatives, accused those in authority of not giving enough back to the society.
According to him, “we have many problems facing us ranging from bad roads to poor electricity supply, among others.
“Several letters have been written but we are still awaiting their response.â€
Investigation by Lagos Bulletin revealed that streets like Mukandasi, Adeniran, Monsuru Bisiriyu, Olarinde, Emman, Aliyu Bisiriyu, Dele Orisabiyi, Bayo Oluwole and Balogun, among others, are in bad state and the residents are begging the council chairman, Mrs. Modupe Oseghale and Governor Babatunde Fashola to come to their rescue by rehabilitating them.
