The ongoing Asoju-Oba Table Tennis Championship, taking place at the Molade Okoya Thomas Sports Indoor Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Serulere in Lagos, Nigeria enters the quarter final stage today.
Defending champion in the women’s singles, Atinuke Olaide faces Odusanya Bose. Ganiat Olatunde will confront Idris Morufat, while Anu Ajuwon will battle Rashidat Ogundele.
In the men’s singles, Gbenga Ajulo will exchange strokes with Adeyinka Ahmed. Ashimiyu Ganiyu, who humbled Kudus Oladejo 4-0 yesterday, boasted that he wants a tough opposition in the quarter final. He will play Olayiwola Majeed.
“I have not played tough opponents in all the matches I have played so far. It is rather sad that this year’s tourney is not as competitive as I thought,†said Ashimiyu who vowed to win the tournament on Friday.
The doubles’ events in the senior, junior and cadet categories will also be played today.
