The 42nd Aso-Oju Oba Table Tennis Championship will come end today at the Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.
In the Men’s singles final, which will be played this evening, Ganiyu Ashimiyu will slug it out with Akeem Adeniyi, while Ganiyat Olatunde will battle Rashidat Ogundele in the women’s singles.
Ashimiyu, a member of Union Bank Table Tennis Club told P.M.Sports yesterday that he deserves to play in today’s final. “I have come a long way and it will be a disappointment if I fail to lift the trophy. I expect a tough match from my opponent, but I’ll come out victorious,†he boasted.
Today’s final promises to be colourful as the organisers are expecting the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Deputy Governor, Sarah Sosan, former Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sports Commissioner, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele, Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to the Governor, Prince ‘Wale Oladunjoye and top members of the state’s Sports Council as well as the white cap chiefs in Lagos.
