Disabled Man Arrested For Fraud

For allegedly defrauding Cyril Chigbo Onovo of N52,000, on the pretence of procuring a German visa for him and knowing same to be false and instigating miscreants to invade Orile Police Division to cause mayhem, Wasiu Yusuff has been arrested by the police at Orile Police Division and later arraigned before the Surulere Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge of fraud and breach of public peace, an offence punishable under Section 419, 390(9) and 249(D) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17. vol. ii. laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Count 3 reads: “That you Wasiu Yusuff on 10 December, 2010 at about 3 p.m. at Orile Police Station in the Lagos magisterial district did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of the public peace bu instigating some miscreants under the banner of disable people association to invade the police station and cause mayhem.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and the magistrate  T. O. Gbajumo granted him bail in the sum of N80,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

The defendant was however ordered remanded in prison custody when he could not perfect his bail conditions.
