The immediate past chairman of Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria, Dr. Abel Olusegun Badejo, has been appointed a peace messenger by the United Nations.
Presenting the letter of appointment and certificates to the newly appointed peace ambassadors at the NUJ press centre, Enugu, Enugu State, the coordinator of United Nations – POLAC, Professor Samuel Uchendu, said their appointment was based on resolution 53/G of 20 November, 1997 by the United Nations.
Prof. Uchendu said that Dr. Badejo and others were appointed as peace messengers because of their notable contributions to peace keeping in their various environments.
Also present at the event is the Deputy International Director, DID, of UN-POLAC, Rt. Rev (Prof) Chidi Ehiriodo.
