The executive chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area of Lagos state, southwest Nigeria, Hon. Hakeem Bamgbola, has inaugurated a Health Committee, which he explained is aimed at making life more meaningful for the people of the council area.
According to Bamgbola, “the committee consists of people and politicians who are members of the community and their task is enormous, but with utmost probity and transparency, coupled with the full support of the people, all will be well. We are charging them to ensure the people of the council area enjoy dividends of democracy through proper healthcare programmes that will be beneficial to them and uplift their living standard,†he said.
The council chairman further encouraged members of the committee to live above board and see the appointment as a privilege to serve the people of Itire Ikate. He also charged them to give their very best in performing their duties.
Also speaking, the chairman of the committee, Dr. Felix Kalesanwo, stated that they hope to carry out primary health care as embedded in the national policy on health and assured that they will discharge their duties to the best of their abilities.
Other members of the committee are Dr. S.O Tanimowo, secretary; Dr. Peju Quadri, representative of private medical practitioners, Alhaji Oluwa, Chief Coker and Alhaji Ajayi as members.
