A cloth seller, Rukayat Kareem, 24, has dragged her husband, Musiliu Kareem, 27, to the Igando-Ikotun Grade ‘B’ Customary Court . She made the following claims of frequent fighting, lack of respect for her family and no more love for him.
In the court, Rukayat alleged that her husband often beats her with no reason. She also complained that he does not respect her family because he refused to pay her dowry.
She declared that she doesn’t love him again because he didn’t allow her to continue her trade and because of his attitude towards her parents.
However, Musiliu said that they fight often because of her laziness, alleging that she does not prepares his food on time and whenever he comes back from work, she is always sleeping.
He also alleged that his mother-in-law was the cause of most of their quarrels because of her interference in their marital affairs.
Musiliu said he respects her family but doesn’t love her again.
The couple live in the same house with the wife’s parents.
Musiliu, who is a meat supplier, wanted the marriage to be dissolved but sought the custody of their only child.
The court told him that he will have to go to the family court to ask for custody.
The couple have been married for five years.
