A convicted kidnapper, Mr. Osamuyi Osunbor, 27, was yesterday sentenced to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine at the Oredo Magistrate’s Court, Benin City, Edo State.
Osunbor was found guilty of extortion and threatening to kidnap and kill Mr. Samson O. Usiemwanta and members of his family.  Osunbor was arrested by the state security service on 20 November, 2010 while trying to collect N100,000 from his victim.
In a statement issued by the SSS, the operatives claimed that they arrested over 100 alleged kidnappers who are undergoing trials at various courts in the state. The SSS also disclosed that it arrested six alleged kidnappers trying to collect ransom paid by family members of their victims.
