A 50- year old man, Olaitan Folarin, of 33, Anu Oluwapo Street, Shomolu, Lagos State, has been arraigned before Shomolu Magistrate’s Court, Shomolu, for unlawful assault and manner likely to cause breach of peace.
Folarin was alleged to have used a kitchen knife to stab Taiwo Olaitan on the left hand at about 8 a.m, on 15 December, 2010, during a scuffle between him and the victim.
The offences, according to the court prosecutor, Inspector Adegoke Akinblabi, are contrary to section 355 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap. C. 38,Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.
The count one of the offence reads, “That you Olaitan Folarin, on the 15 Decenmber, 2010, at about 8.00 am, at no. 33 Anuoluwapo street, Somolu, in the Lagos magistrate district unlafully assault one Taiwo Olaitan, by stabbing with knife on his left hand and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 335 of the Criminal Code Cap. C38, Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2004.â€
The accused pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
He was admmitted bail in the sum of N100,000 with one responsible surety by the court magistrate, Mrs. B.O Osunsanmi. The case was adjourned till 19 January, 2011 for trial.
