An unidentified soldier who drove a blue-coloured Volkswagen bus, known as Danfo, with registration number BA 168 SMK in connivance with about four of his colleagues at the weekend assaulted some mobile policemen attached to the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences Unit stationed at Obalende bus stop, Lagos State.
P.M.NEWS gathered from eyewitnesses that the soldier, who is reportedly attached to 81 Division, Dodan Barracks, was challenged by the task force personnel when one of his passengers alighted in an unauthorized spot at the bus stop.
The soldier, who was said to be annoyed by the confrontation, allegedly beat the police officers and injured them.
He also reportedly called about four of his collegues from Doddan Barracks, who collaborated with him to assault the officers.
When our reporter visited Doddan Barracks, he was not allowed to go in, but a reliable military source told P.M.NEWS that immediately the task force officials reported the matter to the military authorities all the soldiers were arrested and detained.
The task force chairman, SP Bayo Sulaiman, confirmed the incident on phone, saying his office has officially reported the incident to the military authority at Doddan barracks.
