A jilted lover, Chinenye Peter Okonkwo, who had dragged his girl friend, simply identified as Oluwakemi, to the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for alleged  stealing, has withdrawn the case after he was promised marriage to the accused.

As part of settlement to withdraw the charges against her, the parents of the girl promised to marry her off  to Okonkwo. The complainant gladly accepted the  offer and tendered a withdrawal letter to the court.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Okonkwo and Oluwakemi were lovers, but the girl dumped him for another man.

Okonkwo claimed that Oluwakemi came to his house at 53, Agric Road, Egan, a suburb of Lagos southwest Nigeria  to steal his laptop. When he didnot know her  whereabouts, he went to the police station at Igando to report the matter.

The defendant was later arrested and charged to court with stealing. The offence, the police said, was contrary to section 390 of the Criminal Code.

When the charge was read to her, she pleaded not guilty to the charge.

However, the prosecutor, Olajekun Balogun, informed the court that there was a new development in the matter as the complainant has tendered a letter to  withdraw the charge against her.

The complainant  told the court that he was withdrawing the matter because of the love he has for the accused.

The court consequently struck out the matter as prayed by the complainant and discharged her accordingly.
