As preparations for the 2011 general elections in Lagos State gather steam, Mr. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, has said that Nigeria’s dream to become a democratically vibrant country can only be realised when true democrats rise up to the task of rebuilding Nigeria’s polity.
Ayeni, who represents Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, described the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN administration in Lagos State as a responsive government that listens to the plight of the people and responds promptly.
The Committee Chairman on Youth, Sports and Social Development, who also planned to contest for a second term in office in April 2011 general elections, commended the Fashola administration.
He said commissioned and ongoing projects in Oshodi, Isolo include Apakun/Old Ewu Canal, Ajibulu-Airport Road and Bridge, Ikeja Grammar School, Water Mini project and transformers in the constituency.
According to him, “we have a governor that has succeeded in accelerating the progress of the state in just three years, it takes only sheer courage coupled with tenacity of purpose, doggedness of will and ruggedness of patriotism to face every challenge in the state.
He, however, urged the youths in the state and all heterogeneous citizens of Nigeria to shun all forms of political and electoral violence and not to sell themselves out cheaply to be used by unscrupulous politicians in the state.
He enjoined all Nigerians to register en masse when INEC begins to register voters in all states of the federation next year.
