The police in Igando, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria have arrested a 32-year old man and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for watching a pornographic film with his friend’s wife.
The man, Lateef Oriyomi, pleaded guilty. He admitted before the court that he brought the film to his friend’s house in order to seduce his wife, Mrs. Adeola Bayo, to have sex with him. His rationale for doing this, he explained, was because he had been giving her money for recharge cards.
Testifying before the court presided by Mrs. S. O. Solebo, husband of the woman, Mr. Ayodele Bayo, told the court that he told the accused that he was travelling and that he did not know that he had perfected a plan to sleep with his wife.
He disclosed that while he was away from his 15, Bamidele Street, Egan, Lagos residence, Lateef brought the film and played it for his wife to watch.
The plan of the accused was aborted when Mr. Ayodele Bayo came back home to pick an item he forgot. He told the court that he found his wife watching the pornographic film with his wife and reported the matter to the police.
The accused was arrested by the police and charged to court.
The charge reads: “That you, the defendant at the same place and time brought a blue film with the intention of seducing the complainant’s wife, an offence contrary to Section 249 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.â€
He pleaded guilty to the charge but the magistrate observed that the accused was charged under a wrong section of the criminal code and struck out the charge.
The accused was taken by the police to the station to be properly charged.
