A trader, Ikenna Victor, has been arrested by the police and charged before the Isolo Magistrateâ€™s Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria for allegedly raping aÂ 10-year old girl (name withheld).
The accused was alleged to have taken the victim to an uncompleted building on 20, Richfield Street, Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos and had carnal knowledge ofÂ her.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the accused who lives with the parents of the victim in the same compound, returned from the market in the evening that day and tookÂ the girl to the uncompleted building, removed her pant and forcefully had sex with her.
After the act, the victim was found bleeding and crying near the building by neighbours who asked her what happened.
She narrated what happened to her and her parents were contacted.
Her parents immediately contacted the police and the accused was arrested and charged to court for rape, an offence contrary to Section 218 of the CriminalÂ Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate W.A.O. Jemigbo granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties.
The matter has been adjourned till 19 January, 2011.
