A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, Engr. Olatokunbo Kamson, has pledged to  create no fewer than a million jobs within four years if elected the governor of state.

He addded that the provision of jobs under his wealth creation programme will be his first priority, just as education, health, affordable housing and a  greener environment to combat climate change were major issues in his manifesto.

Kamson said that his desire to run for governor was based on his conviction that with his experience and the wealth of Lagos State, much more could be  achieved in lifting the people out of poverty as against the current situation in the state, adding that he would run a people-oriented government.

He noted that the challenges facing Lagos State were understated in terms of government policies, contributions and effect, warning that unless serious  efforts were made to tackle them, the state risked been blighted and the people further dragged down the ladder of poverty in the years ahead.

“The critical stakeholders, I believe, should get very interested in how we can realistically create jobs for the people, particularly the teeming unemployed  youths, by thinking more creatively to make jobs available in a well articulated wealth creation programme,” he said.
