I Am Alive -Obasanjo

Contrary to rumours that he is dead, former president Olusegun Obasanjo says he is alive.

He spoke to our correspondent and some journalists  this evening at his home in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, South West Nigeria.

He said: “If I am dead you won’t see me in flesh and blood talking and wishing Nigerians well.

“One of my friends called me this morning to say that he heard that I was dead. I told him that that was the same question I asked former president Umaru Yar’Adua when he was rumoured to have died.

“This the seventh time since the eve of my inauguration in 1999 that people will be speculating that I am dead.

“My belief is that such rumour is a sign of longevity and those involved in the speculation will not give up. All those speculations will not come to pass until the good Lord who created me says I have reached my time. I will not die.”
