Ex-Poly Student Stabbed To Death During Carnival

A former student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Mr. Michael Afolabi was on New Year day stabbed to death during a street carnival. The deceased lived at Block  244, Flat 6, Jakande Estate, Ilaso, Lekki, Ajah, Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the deceased was coming from an outing when he met some people celebrating at a carnival on the street.

One of the revellers, it was gathered, poured beer on him and he demanded for an apology. The culprit, identified as Emmanuel Ezedima, refused to apologise  and both of them started to exchange words. This led to fighting.

Investigations revealed that another reveller, identified as Segun Amoo assisted Ezedima to overpower the deceased. Witnesses said one of them stabbed the  deceased during the fight and he died before he could be given medical attention.

The matter was reported to the police and the suspects were arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Lagos.

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, appealed to residents to be peaceful while holding carnivals.  “They should respect the right of others to walk around without molesting them,” he stated.

He also appealed to community leaders to work towards preventing this kind of tragedy in the future.
