Omo-Agege Rates INEC Low
Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, the Republican Party of Nigeria (RPN) governorship candidate in the Jan. 6 Delta re-run, has rated INEC low in the conduct of the election.
Omo-Agege told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after he voted on Thursday that the rerun, especially the one in his constituency was peaceful, but witnessed malpractices across the state.
According to him, there were cases of ballot-box snatching.
“What we have right now is worse than what took place in 2007,†the RPN candidate alleged. He further alleged that PDP was assisted by the police and the army, and in some cases the navy.
“It would have been expected that there would be some kind of fairness but so far, it is only in some few places there is actual voting.
“Based on that, I am confident that at the end of the day, based on the result of the actual votes cast, I will emerge a governor,†Omo-Agege said.
He alleged that voting materials were made to arrive late in his ward to frustrate him and his supporters as “everyone knows that Ughelli North is my own base.â€
He said materials did not get to his unit until about I p.m., adding that he got accredited 20 minutes later and voted two hours after getting accredited.
He said the good news was that everybody voted and there was no violence.
Omo-Agege advised his people to remain calm and patient as he would not want any violence or anything that would cause the result of his constituency or unit to be cancelled .
“At the end of the day, if it is only 100 votes cast, the votes will determine the governor and we are hell-bent, we will see to that.
“And we will take it to any level, we having been fighting for three and half year to erase fraud that was committed in the state and we are not about to hang up,†Omo-Agege said.
On the said cancellation of Ughelli North local government election by INEC, the RPN candidate said he was not aware of any cancellation.
