‘I Regret Being A Robber’
A suspected thief, Chukwuma Nwere, has expressed regret that he started stealing after dropping out of school.
The suspect, Chukwuma Nwere, 25, who resides in Alagbole Akute, Ogun State, made this lamentation while being interrogated after he was caught trying to steal a vehicle from where it was parked by the owner, Mr. Soji Okeowo, at Ojodu Berger, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Mercedes Benz car with registration No. DX 10 LND and an intercontinental automated teller machine, ATM card, were recovered from him on 5 January after the attempt.
P.M.NEWS gathered that he was trying to reverse the car when he hit a commuter bus with Lagos colour and was caught by residents of the area.
During interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was suffering from spiritual attacks. “I regret being caught while stealing a car. If I had known, I would have listened to my mum because she wanted me to be educated but I ended up being a car thief. This has brought shame to me and my family,†he said.
He was later handed over to the police at Isheri-Berger police division.
The owner of the car, Mr. Soji Okeowo, thanked neighbours for the recovery of the vehicle and also gave God the glory.
