Ogun Central: I Will Not Step Down For Obasanjo-Bello – Abiola-Edewor

Mrs. Lola Abiola-Edewor, daughter of the late business mogul, Chief M.K.O. Abiola, said on Sunday that she would not step down for Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello.
Abiola-Edewor and Obasanjo-Bello, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, emerged as PDP candidates for the Ogun Central Senatorial District at two parallel congresses held on Friday in Abeokuta.
There were speculations in Abeokuta on Sunday that the victory of Abiola-Edewor had been annulled by the party hierarchy in favour of Obasanjo-Bello.
The situation resulted in protest at the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium, venue of Gov. Gbenga Daniel faction’s governorship primary by party faithful who were mostly women.
Abiola-Edewor, a member of the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003, told newsmen that she would not allow her victory to be annulled by any person or group.
She said she would not step down for Obasanjo-Bello who currently represents the district at the Senate.
“I will not step down for anybody. I will not accept it. I will employ all means to ensure that justice is done.
“The certificate that was given to me after my victory as the Ogun Central senatorial district candidate is very much with me.
However, the chairman of the PDP electoral committee for Daniel’s faction, retired Col. Abdul-Mumini Aminu, said he would include Abiola-Edewor’s allegations in his report to the national executive committee of the party.
“We are not here for the Senate or House of Representatives primaries. We have heard what she said. We will include it in our report,†Aminu, a former Military Administrator of Borno State, said.
