Players and officials of Sharks FC of Port Harcourt were involved in a car crash on their way to honour their week 9 Nigeria Premier League, NPL game against Plateau United in Jos.

Some of Sharks players  including Flying Eagles’ skipper, Fortune Chukwudi suffered injuries in the accident, which happened as a result of a mechanical failure. Their bus, according to reports summersaulted three times before coming to a halt.

A member of the squad, Victor Ezeji confirmed that the accident occured at about 1:35am today, 3 kilometers away from their hotel.

“I am still in shock. I have never witnessed anything like this in my life. I thought I was going to die,” he told supersports.com.

The player, who escaped unhurt from the incident is however just one of the lucky ones as quite a number of the contingent were injured.

Gomo Unduku, Ernest Tiehbanyo, Odinga Odinga, Chukwudi, Confidence Idaa, Terry Envoh, Chuks Ezeji, and Kennedy Boboye were part of the players that were hurt as a result of the accident.

Sharks were set for the game against Plateau United slated for today, but the game is now sure to be postponed for the fourth time. The match was earlier postponed due to the crisis in Jos.
