Former Lagos Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, said he was not disturbed by alleged threats by some members of a political party to assassinate him.

Responding to questions from newsmen at the Presidential Wing of the Muritala Muhammed Airport, Tinubu said the suspected party would lose the remnants of its integrity the moment it hounded opponents.

“My life, is left to God Almighty,” the Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN) chieftain said.

The ACN had on Friday raised an alarm that the leadership of a certain party had concluded plans to silence the party leader.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, spokesman for the party while speaking with newsmen had said that the ACN fortunes rose, while the prospects of some other parties dimmed by the day.

He had explained that the party had the impression that Tinubu was the architect of their misfortune, making them to want to stop him at all costs.

Tinubu added that he had a constitutional and fundamental right to freedom and the pursuit of happiness.

He said that he was not in any way frightened by the restlessness or threat in the course of his political struggle to chart a new course for Nigeria’s political stability.

“We are struggling to remake Nigeria. To truly re-make our country and the politics of the last 12 years is not the politics you can describe as a patriotic commitment to building the nation above selfish interest.

“In Africa, oppositions are threatened, persecuted. I am not new to that. It happened to me during the Abacha regime and severally too.

“You cannot manufacture crime, where no one has been committed or where none exist. Therefore, the question of arrest or threat to life does not bother me.

“I believe in judicial processes and constitutional democracy and the moment people start persecuting their opponents, they are ready to lose their integrity completely,” he said.
