Group Commends Tinubu, ACN On Fashola
A socio-political pressure group, Coalition Of Oodua Self Determination Groups, COSEG, has commended the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, for endorsing Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola for a second term.
General Secretary of the group, Rasaq Oloko-Oba, in a statement, described the endorsement as a right step in the right direction; pointing out that with Fashola’s endorsement for a second term, the death knell of the opposition in Lagos has been sounded.
According to him, what Tinubu and ACN did was in line with the thought of President Goodluck Jonathan who said in Warri, Delta State before the rerun election in the state that the position of a governor should not be given to a new comer.
Going by Jonathan’s statement, Oloko-Oba reasoned that come April 2011, a new comer should not expect to be entrusted with the office of governor since President Jonathan himself has admitted that such a sensitive position is not for the uninitiated.
“Mr. President from Abuja has endorsed Fashola for Lagos State from April 2011 to 2015,” he added.
Against this background, the activist advised govenorship aspirants from the opposition parties, including the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to stop wasting their time and support Fashola for a second term, as stated by President Jonathan.
