Kidnappers Free Mr. Ibu’s Wife, Son

The wife and son of popular Nollywood star, John Okafor, a.k.a. Mr. Ibu, have been released by their abductors.

Mr. Ibu’s wife, Stella-Maris and his one year old son, Emmanuel Mandella Okafor, were released by the kidnappers late last night after being their custody  for about ten days.

Confirming the development to P.M.NEWS on phone this morning, Mr. Ibu expressed his joy over the release of his wife and son, but declined to disclose the  ransom he paid.

“Obviously  I’m very happy that my wife and son have been released, but I will not disclose the ransom. However, I want to thank my friends, colleagues and  Nigerians in general who stood by me during this trying period,” Mr. Ibu stated.

Stella-Maris and Emmanuel were kidnapped in Enugu on Tuesday last week.

Their kidnappers initially demanded for a N50 million-ransom, but later slashed it to N6 million when the Nollywood actor pleaded that he cannot afford to  pay  such amount of money.
