Amuwo LG Boss Monitors Voter Registration Exercise
Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, has appealed to residents to register in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Comrade Adewale made this appeal while registering at the 7th Avenue Primary School in Festac Town, Lagos.
“I foresee a better political future provided that government addresses the issue of power supply that is also responsible for hitches in the working of the Direct Data Capturing (DDC) machines,†he stated.
He appealed to INEC to live up to the expectations of Nigerians by ensuring the success of the registration exercise.
“I am optimistic that all votes will count during the coming elections,’’ Comrade Adewale assured.
There were complaints at some registration centres about the cumbersome and time wasting procedures of the DDC machines.
Some of the youth corpers also complained that they were not catered for by INEC.
The Amuwo-Odofin council boss promised to support them in any little way he could to ensure the success of the exercise.
A registration official at centre 044, John Iwuchukwu, complained that some residents refused to give their full names and was told to replace those names.
A resident, Abiola Ogunnuga, at center 043 commended the registration officials for doing a great job and urged the government to encourage them.
She also appealed to Comrade Adewale to support them in whatever way he deems fit.
Others present at the Festac town registration centre with Comrade Adewale were Comrade Akeem Kazeem, Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Mr. Victor Layeni, Council Manager, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Comrade Olawale Omotade, General Secretary, Comrade Wilfred Uwando, Assistant Gen. Sec. and other officials of TUC.
Comrade Kazeem thanked the local government boss for ensuring peace and sensitising residents about the importance of the exercise.
