You Are A Disappointment, Constituents Tell Adegeye
A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and wife of popular musician, Sunny Ade, Hon. Risikat Adegeye, is not having the best of times with her constituents in Amuwo Odofin area of the State as her constituents say they regret having her as their representative at the House.
They also described her as a sidon look lawmaker whose only duty is to warm her seat at the floor of the House.
This may have resulted in her refusal to contest for the seat again in the forthcoming elections into the House.
Residents of FESTAC, a part of her constituency, while decrying the poor performance of their representatives at the various tiers of government since the inception of the current democratic dispensation, further called her a bench-warmer.
According to them, the constituents have not heard Hon. Adegeye speak on the floor of the House since 2007 when she was sworn in as a lawmaker.
A representative of the area and President of FESTAC Town Residents Association, Mr Jola Ogunlusi, who said this recently at a political forum held in the area, said after electing their representatives, the latter never report back to them.
Ogunlusi added that the constituents do not know their representatives and would not recognise them in public.
According to him, “Our expectation from them is that they will get into the assembly, raise issues of problems of the estate in the house and bring the attention of the governor to our problems. Alas! No evidence of their ever remembering that they come from these constituencies.â€
He vowed that the people of the area would not vote for such people who would be elected into various positions and forget those who brought them into power.
