Bread Seller Seeks Divorce
A bread seller, Mrs. Shadiat Adejoke Akingbade, has dragged her husband, Mr. Akeem Akingbade, who is also a bread seller, before the Agege Customary Court, Lagos seeking the dissolution of their one year old marriage.
She accused her husband of not caring for her and beating her always. She added that there is no more love between them.
According to her, the last time he beats her, he threw her luggage from the balcony and started raining curses on her parents.
She claimed to have met her husband through a friend who introduced him to her. The marriage is blessed with a child.
The respondent, Mr.Akeem Akingbade, denied the allegations and accused the petitioner of disobedience. “Whenever my son is ill, I will tell her to take him to the hospital but she always refused and takes him to an Alfa.
“One day, I saw the boy with a cockroach in his hand and I told the mother to take care of him. Instead of doing this, she started abusing me and later tore my clothes,†he stated.
After listening to both parties, the President of the Court, Mr. E.B. Shokunle advised them to go home and invite two relatives from each family to resolve the issue.
He adjourned the case till February 8, for judgment.
