Police Arrest 2 Corps Members Over Missing DDC Machine
The police in Yobe on Tuesday arrested two NYSC members serving as registration officers in the state over an alleged disappearance of a DDC machine in their custody.
Adam Ali, Yobe Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the arrest of the corps members to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Tuesday.
Ali, who declined to disclose the names of the arrested corps members, said “the machine has not been recovered and the CID department is still investigating the matter.â€
Mrs Victoria Ango, Yobe NYSC Coordinator, told NAN in a telephone interview that the corps members had been granted bail but directed to report back to the police on Thursday.
“NYSC is not against the law from taking its course but, we are equally concerned about the welfare of the corps members,†Ango said.
NAN learnt that the machine got missing on Monday.
Sadiq Musa,Yobe Resident Electoral Commissioner, said he has yet to receive a formal report on the incident.
Musa, however, confirmed that one of the DDC machines was vandalized by angry mob in Potiskum on Monday.
He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise across the state.
