Two Victims Of fire Incident Die In UCH

The Head of Public Relations Department of the University College Hospital, (UCH), Mr. Toye Akinrinola today confirmed that two out of the three persons  involved in the fire accident at Ojoo roundabout in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State had died.

The victims of the inferno identified as Yisay Abayawo and Mariam Akangbe selling bread  died in the afternoon and their bodies have been deposited  the mortuary of the hospital.

According to him, the medical team of the hospital tried their best to save their lives but could not because they suffered high degree of burns, adding that the surviving victim who is man is receiving the highest medical attention to save his live.

Although he could not say how much is required  to get the victim best treatment, he called on good spirited individuals to financially assist the victim, stressing that surgery would be carried out on him at the appropriate time.

However, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate into the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Adeleke Apapa has donated an undisclosed amount of money for the treatment of the surviving victim.

Adeleke made this donation when he paid a visit to the victim at the emergency ward in the hospital.

A truck’s brake  failed at Ojoo, Ibadan, and it spilled the petrol it was carrying on the road.The vehicle caught fire.  It took the combined effort of the officials of the state fire service, the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), military personnel attached to the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, and other individuals to put extinguish the fire that lasted for three hours.

About 200 shops and stalls and goods worth several millions of naira and two vehicles were destroyed in the conflagration.
