Yar’Adua’s Family Joins CPC
Some members of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua family in Katsina on Tuesday declared for the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
A younger brother to the late president, retired Col. Abdullahi Yar’Adua led other members of the family to formally declare for the party in Katsina at a news briefing.
“Myself and some members of the family have joined the CPC because we feel it is the only party that will redeem the ordinary people.
“After leaving the military, I decided to join the CPC because having read its manifesto and constitution I discovered that its vision and mission are similar to my political inclination.
‘’This is why myself and other members of the family have decided to join the party,†he explained.
Yar’Adua said the aim of his people was not to contest for any position but to be party members who would support the party to win elections.
He also said that accountability, honesty, respect for human rights and trustworthiness which were part of the CPC’s manifesto, attracted his people to the party.
On his relationship with Gov. Ibrahim Shema of the state, Yar’Adua said: “The governor is my elder brother and I have no problem with him.
‘’I only used my constitutional and democratic rights to choose the party I like to belong to.â€
