Women Seek Relevance In Ogun ACN

The Ogun State Women Forum of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has called for  more women participation in the sharing of political offices in the state.

In a letter addressed to the state chairman of the ACN, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, the  women leader of Ogun East Senatorial District, Mrs. R.O. Adetona disclosed that  women constituted 60 percent of the population and therefore deserve better  political patronage.

The women gave examples of Lagos, Ekiti, Osun and Ogun states where women are deputy  governors, to butress their point.

The women lamented that during the last ACN primaries in Ogun State, only one out of  26 seats in the state House of Assembly was given to a woman while they had none in  the National Assembly.

They disclosed further that women in the state have not been fairly treated and have  been marginalised.

They appealed to the ACN leadership to nominate a woman for the position of the  deputy governor and the nominee should come from Ijebu-Ode Local Government.

The petition was signed by ACN women leader, Mrs. R. O. Adetona, Mrs. Bello Bola,  Mrs. Aroke Sofodu, Mrs. Afolake Yusuf and Mrs. Talabi Olukemi Damilola.
