Mob Razed Abuja Zenith Bank Branch Over Killing Of Pregnant Woman

By shooting at a taxi which was trying to make a turn at the front of a bank he was guarding, an action which allegedly led to the killing of a pregnant woman,  a police officer instigated the burning down of a branch of Zenith Bank in Mpape, a suburb of Abuja this today.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the police officer whose identity could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this story had challenged the taxi driver as he was about to make a turn in front of the bank and in the process, his gun went off, and released volley of bullets which hit a pregnant woman who was passing bye then resulting in her instant death.

It was learnt that the sound of the gun attracted people living around the bank.

Some of those gathered immediately made for the banking hall in the bid to avenge the killing of the woman set the bank ablaze. Workers inside the Bank’s premises , PM NEWS gathered, escaped through the window.

The action of the mob resulted in pandemonium and general break down of law and order in the area populated mostly by low income earners.

Haruna John, the Commissioner of Police for Federal Capital Territory, FCT has however led a detachment of Police to the scene as at the time of writing this story.

The Police boss assured journalists that the situation has been brought under control and that the police officer involved in the killing will be investigated and prosecuted if found guilty.

The loss sustained by the Bank as a result of the burning of its premises cannot be ascertained as at the time of writing this story.
