NURTW Boss Commended
The transformation of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, under the incumbent national chairman, Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin has been commended.
The commendation is coming from Mr. Felix Akpan, first Trustee, Ikeja Under Bridge Unit of the NURTW, Lagos chapter, who said that Yasin who succeeded former boss of the union, the late Alhaji Hamman Gidado, has been doing a good job to ensure that members of the public have a positive impression of the NURTW.
Alhaji Yasin, who hails from Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria succeeded the late Gidado who died in an auto crash in November 2010. Akpan, a former Nigerian boxing champion in the Welterweight category, said Yasin needs the support of all members of the union across the federation so that the good works of Gidado would be sustained.
The former boxer also congratulated other national executives of the union including the Deputy President, Dr. Olaoye and the Organising Secretary, Alhaji Ibikunle Baruwa on their appointment.
He gave kudos to the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the NURTW, Alhaji Akanni Olohunwa, for ensuring that there is unity within the union in the state. “Gone are the days when the union is noted for violence in Lagos. Alhaji Olohunwa has brought sanity into the union,†said Akpan, who called on all members of the union in Lagos to come out en masse to register in the ongoing registration exercise ahead of the April general election in the country.
