Clearing Agent Docked
A clearing agent, Rashidat Olatunji, has been docked at the Ogudu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
The police prosecutor, ASP Eyo Owai told the court that Rashidat obtained N385,000 from a complainant, Mr. Olayiwola Ogundare of 36, Asani Street, Bariga, on the pretence of clearing two vehicles for him at the Lagos port.
The offence is punishable under sections 516, 419, of the Criminal Code, Cap.32, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
When the charges were read to her, she pleaded not guilty.
The trial magistrate admitted her on bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. The magistrate also directed that the surety must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government.
The case has been adjourned till 14 February, 2011.
